01 — Overview

What is FUE?

Follicular Unit Extraction. Individual grafts are harvested with a micro-punch, leaving tiny dot scars that are invisible even with short hair.

A hair transplant moves follicles from the donor area at the back and sides of the scalp — which is genetically resistant to balding — into areas where hair has thinned or receded.

02 — Conditions treated

Who we help with a transplant.

Transplants work best where hair loss has stabilised and there is a healthy donor supply.

01
Male pattern baldness

Receding temples, thinning crown and frontal loss (androgenetic alopecia).

02
Female hair thinning

Patterned thinning or a widening part where the donor area is stable.

03
Beard & moustache gaps

Patchy or sparse facial hair filled in with natural direction.

04
Eyebrow restoration

Thin, over-plucked or scarred brows rebuilt hair by hair.

03 — Suitability

Am I a good candidate?

Suitability is always confirmed by the doctor at consultation. As a general guide:

Usually a good fit if you
May not be suitable if you
05 — The procedure

What happens on the day.

Total time: 6–8 hours. You’re awake and comfortable throughout, and the doctor explains each stage as it happens.

FUE questions, answered.

Is a hair transplant permanent?

Yes. Donor follicles are resistant to the hormone (DHT) that causes pattern hair loss, so they continue to grow for life.

Grafts are placed at the angle and direction of your natural growth, with a soft, slightly irregular hairline — no “pluggy” look.

It depends on the area and your donor density. Your doctor gives an exact estimate after examining your scalp.

Only the anaesthetic injections are felt. After that, most patients feel pressure rather than pain and rest or watch films.

Most people return to desk work in 5–7 days. Physical jobs may need up to 2 weeks.

Transplanted hair is permanent, but your existing hair can still thin. Your doctor may suggest PRP, GFC or medication to protect it.
